wow Lucero…my mother son dance at my wedding was Lucero “Mom”
wow Lucero…my mother son dance at my wedding was Lucero “Mom”
Somehow, via the twists of fate and/or the internet, I once stumbled across a recording of a This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb show where the drummer (I think, maybe the lead guitar?) had a broken arm so they were playing a glockenspiel with their good arm, and it’s awesome, frantically bing banging away.
bought that RJD2 record at some Rhymesayers showcase in 2002 in Ft Collins, then my friend and I got kicked out the venue five minutes into the opener for drinking Fat Tires in the bathroom/being underage
The Dodos pick is the real star of the show here
When I was an RA we would submit songs for a “residence hall staff mix CD” that my hall director would burn for us at the end of the year, I should find those playlists
i'm ready when you find them

All I know is that blasting Blind Melon in a 1995 Toyota Corolla with ok speakers and bad AC so the windows are rolled down and you’re just getting a face full of that mid-May South Dakota air is very good, actually
Don't know whether to be horrified or proud that I managed to seal the deal while putting this kind of energy out into the universe
My favorite weakerthan’s song is maybe fire door never left open
(it was titled "Vacation at Home" because this old poster was a central component of the collage)
He listens to exactly none of these bands and barely any of these genres just fyi
That Specials version of Pressure Drop is so good and it's become Lost Media in the post-iTunes era
just like Dashboard Jamie bsky.app/profile/chea...
i'm being silly about the lost media thing ofc, i mean "it was not on Pandora/Spotify at the time I was subscribing to Pandora/Spotify"
is this it? (asking bc i don't know, not bc i think you never thought to search for it)
that's the one! i've just never found it on a streaming app. which is laziness i know
Doesn't look to be on Spotify, at least
totally get it. convenience is a such a trap in so many ways. (not snarking!!) this version is really fun!
I listen to many of these bands and genres! Paulina is probably my favorite on the list although Brother and Five State Drive are high up there too
in my experience, it is extremely easy to become ensorceled by a ska girl.
im literally wearing checkerboard vans rn
It was very inspirational (plz disregard that I spilled coffee on the checkerboard ones)
lady's rock
Those turquoise ones are sick!
Hell yeah. They're custom wides, "ceramic suede" uppers, and took an ungodly amount of time to show up, but I was so thrilled with them when they did. In the right light, they match my hair almost perfectly!
flattered you picked my OC as hair color inspiration
Yeah, they do! The news that you can get custom Vans is also news I'm going to file away for future use.
The Weakerthans 😍
I know a real Limewire Haver when I see one
I was in the motorcycle bar today for lunch eating a very good sandwich when Ghostwriter came on. Powerful stuff here.
FEIST. Oh hell yeah. My husband and I absolutely made CDs for each other in the first month of dating in 2008
I don’t still have the one he made me but I know it started with Andrew Bird and also contained The Magnetic Fields. The “Yes I’m a sensitive boy” mix
The Dodos… there’s a name I haven’t heard in awhile.
My little sister put me onto that album 🥰
Feist, Less Than Jake, and Woody Guthrie? This is incredible
I was On One
Murder by Death mentioned let's fucking goooo also that 99 Red Balloons cover is a banger
i think at least one mufo has spoken up for each song on here, hell yeag
Murder by Death straight into The Hippos gets a “heck yeah” from me
it's good for them. Toughen em up
Needs Dr Dog but I love putting Sexx Laws on a mix tape for a new someone, that's bold
Unfortunately I didn't discover Dr. Dog until I was Thirty Five Years Old
Also the Sexx Laws thing is indeed wild, I don't think I knew at the time how very very reserved Mr. View is. Might've been on thin ice!
