A federal judge ruled Trump illegally used the military as a “national police force” in LA— violating the Posse Comitatus Act. Now he’s threatening to deploy troops to Chicago. This is an alarming escalation of federal overreach into local law enforcement. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

The court affirmed: there was no rebellion, and local law enforcement was capable— Trump and Hegseth still sent Guard and Marines. This sets a dangerous precedent for military force in blue cities, undermining civil liberties and democratic governance. #OneMillionRising #Pillar: Military-Police-ICE

Call your Reps: demand congressional oversight and protections against illegal military deployments. Support state lawsuits. Pressure local officials to reject federal incursions. Document abuses, show up peacefully, and organize—defending democracy is up to us. www.indivisibleor.org/take-action/...

Baltimore’s Mayor Brandon Scott: The city is safer than it’s been in decades. We welcome coordinated support—not political theater or military incursions. Invest in violence prevention, send FBI/DEA/ATF to target real crime, and stop using cities as props. #NoKings www.pbs.org/newshour/sho...

Don’t back down. Repeat after me. There is no trade emergency. There is no migrant emergency. There is no crime emergency. There is only a chilling and determined power grab by the most dangerous man to every occupy the White House. Eyes on 2026. #EmergencyGate sherrilyn.substack.com/p/emergency-...

There is no emergency in Chicago that calls for armed military intervention. There is no insurrection. Like every major American city in both blue and red states, we deal with crime in Chicago. Indeed, the violent crime rate is worse in red states and red cities. www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news...

Hmm...do we have a word for when an army of soldiers illegally enters your territory against the will of the people who live there?

Excellent question! Yes: it’s called an invasion—and if troops stay and assert control, a military occupation. Under U.S. law, deploying the military for domestic policing without clear authorization violates the Posse Comitatus Act. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_C...

When the National Guard reports to governors, PCA doesn’t apply; they can assist law enforcement if state law allows. However, once federalized, they become part of the federal armed forces & are bound by the Posse Comitatus Act until returned to state control. www.brennancenter.org/our-work/res...
