It may not be specific to Texas. It’s based on my 25 years down here. You won’t find many moderate republicans in this state any more. The Dems have an identity problem but moving further right or staying in the center is not the answer.
I never commented on Democratic party strategy. My point is that "voting for party" is something most people do in general rather than a specifically Republican thing, for better or for worse.
Correct. Labels are an easy way to identify. That’s why I’m an indie. I hate labels. I’m more complicated and nuanced. I’ll vote Dem but I don’t like the party leadership. I used to be a centrist or moderate but have swung far left in my age. Cruz benefits since Dems are perceived as woke and soft
When the cult awakens and they realize they have been betrayed, they will become woke. Dems being the only opposition party need to move hard left to counter tyranny and far right But I’m hopeful new parties and system of government emerges after all this. Our democracy was exposed as very weak.
