Seriously, the CARES act blew a hole in the deficit in 2020 in order to save thousands or millions of lives, businesses and jobs. Maybe Bessett would gave preferred who knows how many additional deaths and economic collapse. I’m glad the Democrats passed CARES despite the deficit increase.

trump and Rs - after mocking it in early 2020, before the markets tanked by 50% - were strongly enthusiastic about Cares Act; it almost certainly saved Republicans from losing a blowout in 2020, because they paid everyone to stay at home!
