My blue vote doesn't matter, but hopefully our actions today will help our kids tomorrow. And I completely understand your position, holding that view for a long time myself, however, that attitude here was as useless as my vote. I wish you well, too.

We aren’t 50 purple states, we are states with cities full of educated people (blue) and rural areas full of fully indoctrinated Christian-facists. Sure there’s an admixture, because sometimes someone has the critical thinking skills to ask “why?” Then the whole facade of indoctrination fails.

But most of the time simple rural folks point at the cities and say they’re “war zones” full of “those people” meanwhile folks in cities live next to all kinds of people and learn that they’re just humans. So no we are not 50 purple states we are 50 states with varying degrees of cosmopolitanism.
