Cue people from sane countries asking why Americans put up with this. My mother was on Medicare and I asked her if she liked it. She said she loved it. Then she proceeded to tell me how you don't want gov't involved in healthcare.

And this is exactly the problem. A meaningful percentage of the country fights to maintain the belief that rote recitation is highest form of thinking.

We don’t want to put up with it. In our oligarchy, there is not enough willingness to treat the public good as anything but a profit driven initiative. The Obama admin crafted the ACA incorporating some of the things the GOP wanted and they opposed it because they wanted to obstruct him.

The states who adopted the Medicaid expansion are experiencing dramatic improvements in health outcomes, which is leading to improved financial security and some shrinking of racial health care disparities (which is still a significant problem, even in states with the expansion).

My MIL told me how much less her prescriptions cost for the past few months.... I was like yeah, the Biden administration and the Democrats did that for seniors to cap prescription prices 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
