To those folks, I have no advice and trust me you wouldn't want to follow it if I did. I will just say that you deserve to take a few moments to pat yourself on the back for the small wins you've accumulated along the way. Included in that list of wins is any day that you didn't give up.
Also included: -You found yourself in a typically triggering situation but found the strength to resist it. -You found a way to understand instructions written for folks without your particular challenges and succeeded. -You went out of your comfort zone to be there for someone else.
-You took a single item off your to-do list. -You made a mistake and didn't let it spiral into self doubt and self hatred. -You took a compliment without self-deprecation. -You complimented yourself. -You tried something new. -You lost a battle without conceding defeat in the war.
And if you can't find a single thing to give yourself even a little credit for, that means that you've joined up with the world in kicking your own ass every day. And you know what? You're still here.
Stallone seems to have home full MAGA, so apologies for putting a spotlight on him. But I really like his monologue from Rocky Balboa. “It's not about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward.”
Everyone, to some degree, is getting hit every day. Some a lot more than others. Sometimes it's gonna knock you on your ass. Get up. Sometimes it doesn't have to, because you trip and take yourself down. Get up. Sometimes you don't even know how you got on the ground. Get up.
