Because it wasn’t coming a few years ago, it’s artificially created, which you know well. I knew food would get expensive with climate, but this seems meant to thin the herd. They were actually offering paying off your groceries in 4 installments, no interest. Unsustainable.

I remember how thrilled my pals Pat & Mike (not kidding) found out they could use Pat’s cc for groceries. That was cash poor students in the 70s. Break from ramen.
I lived on yogurt, Raisin Bran, rice, and fruits&veggies from working the OH unit, and eggs from helping out at the poultry production unit. CalPoly was AG and architecture/engineering, thank god.
Sure musta helped. I recall being satisfied on crackers and honey. Great meal to give your kid.
We were all mostly penniless, everyone was in the 70’s. Our post Nixon/Ford recession was very stubborn.
So true! And maybe a couple hundred bucks in offices. No power. May start 5 cents above min wage. The Working Poor and no one cared too much.
Even the working rich were hit and not happy about it! My dad didn’t buy a new car for 2 years, sold the house in Jamaica, I loved that for him!😂 My sister told me, we weren’t in touch at all.
