Why would they mobilize the guard against a protest that doesn’t spurn change but results in people losing their homes?

If anyone attempts a sit down strike or picketing, the Guard will come out. Frankly if there's a 1000% rise in evictions they'll probably call out the Guard too, just to help local police seize homes

Historically yes, the last time anything like a general strike got underway in the US the result was the First Red Scare and the election of Warren G Harding but hey maybe you get lucky this time
