I’ve lived near Boston for over 35 years now and I think I’ve earned the right to share what might be an obvious axiom: “Sweet Caroline” is very, very bad and “Dirty Water” is inexpressibly good

So good so good
"Frustrated women, have to be in by twelve o'clock" is one of my all-time favorite lyrics. But I must observe that "Sweet Caroline" is much more satisfying to belt out en masse with thousands of other people. Like Handel's Messiah. The Mets are doing a good job with "My Girl" for Lindor's walkup.
correct. but what about "Tessie?"
Ken Casey of the Dropkicks took two of my classes in the early Covid time so you best believe I love that one.
I love the commercials with the childrens choirs singing "Dirty Water." Makes my heart warm.
Yes. Every wedding reception has been ruined by that defilement of Sweet Caroline. The same can also be said for Mony Mony... Whoever started these, tar-and-feathering is too good for them.
While I do not endorse dirty water, I respect the song and know that Sweet Caroline in many ways marked an era that changed a lot of the culture of Fenway
Dirty Water is Boston!!
I genuinely unironically love the Standells. Some great garage-y songs on that first album.
No idea on the first part. Standells 1966 on the second
The Standells were incredible, even when they sucked on The Munsters.
