white Americans In Europe we don't call shops culture. Unless, it is an artisan whose shop have existed for 2 centuries and it is a landmark for the locals.

The thing is, the US hasn't been around long enough to have a real mainstream "traditional" culture that isn't inseparably rotted through with close connections to chattel slavery. So notalgia for sanitized fauxrealities created by for-profit companies gets fixated on instead.
