And they haven’t disappeared at all! I have two medlar trees and you’ll find them for sale in most good nurseries?

Everyone knows the tomato came from Central America, right? Along with corn, potatoes, tobacco? Did you know that they were regarded as poisonous & were solely ornamental for over 200 years afterwards? Medlars went the other way. We grow them but who eats them?

Potatoes are still poisonous. We just have bred them to decrease the levels of solanine and other toxins in them so they’re mostly safe as long as you don’t eat them when green or sprouting.

You're right. BYW the link did not work, though.

Sorry; it wasn’t supposed to be a link. Space is next to . on this iPhone keyboard and if you make a DNS name bsky turns it into a link behind your back.

Aha! Yes. I have a bad habit of sometimes eating the slightly green ones...

Mithridatism! Building up resistance for when your enemies try to poison you with potatoes!

I do! Medlar jelly is lush! Also make quite good wine, I gather? Haven’t tried that though.
