The photography shows a close-up of the plant's fluffy seed ball, much like a mature dandelion or salsify ready to disperse its seeds. The ball is made up of many thin, white, parachute-like achenes arranged around a central point. Blurred green grass stems and a few yellow and purple flowers are visible in the background. Description: This is a biennial herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, known for its large seed heads that resemble enlarged dandelions. Salsify is widespread in the temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere, including Europe, Asia, and North America. Habitat: It can be found in meadows, forest clearings, forest edges, field margins, roadsides, and gardens. Characteristics: The yellow flowers of Tragopogon open early in the morning and close around midday, which is reflected in its English name
