It is 100% the same. and the fact that your own generational prejudices are blinding you to that is on you. The way you stop the erosion of rights is that you fight for All of them, even then ones that don't effect you directly. Or have you not read the poem about this?
Please give me a definition of the word FIGHT. What can you or any one of us DO to stop this frightening, daily erosion of everybody's rights by THIS ADMINISTRATION?
If you want legal options you can call and write in to your local state and federal representatives and berate them to support the rights of everyone like a real, normal human being would. It's not rocket science. Make them know that they need to support everyone if they want your support.
You can also join or start a local, state, or federal support group or non-profit working to assist and canvas to get people to understand the importance of fighting for the rights of everyone, not just the ones you don't think of as disposable. You know, like you did for UBI.
I have just so much energy (I'm 89) and my battle right now is to do everything I can to salvage the United States of America. I also don't understand what you mean by "fight." If you're talking about demonstrations, the ones that are most important to me are the "No Kings" events.
Go to those then. You have to make your voice heard so that no one can take your silence to mean compliance or assent. And that means not giving silent assent to Newsom when he throws the rights of any group under the bus because if he does it to them he will do it to you too to get what he wants.
It's hard and it's exhausting, but being silent about the erosion of rights for anyone, even when it isn't directly affecting you is what people who want power for their own purposes want you to be. Because if you don't do it for others then it's easier to convince others to not do it for you.
But I'm guessing that instead you just are looking for a reason to sacrifice the wellbeing of others to support someone who you Think, Might, DO SOMETHING (what that something is is undefined, but supporting them makes you feel better instead of doing something yourself).
Again, what are YOU doing? Little old me cannot, is not in a position to sacrifice anyone's well being. All I can do right now is fight like hell to stop the nightmare we're in.
Then why are you saying to ignore Newsoms stance about making that nightmare worse for people who aren't you? That's not stopping the nightmare that's just saving yourself from it.
No one is expecting you to lead any charge, they are just begging you to not sacrifice other people's rights for a tiny bit of peace.
