Nice balancing act!!
Impressive balance!
The wings move so fast you can't even see them!π±
Isn't it funny that a bear likes honey.
If he knows the lyrics, he prefers singing over humming. He has a nice baritone but he has been known to over-hum.
π
I thought they were extinct? π€

I love this; "the elusive humming bear"! I have a large feeder on our front porch & so far, no bears. However, when I put them any in the back yard, (we back on to woods & the Squamish River), they constantly knock it down & lick up the nectar. We often see them on the street, so not sure why not.
Oh wow!
Is it me or does the bear look like itβs wearing shoes?
I bet you could definitely hear it flying!
gymnastic hummingbear
Bears have a sweet tooth! His wings are flapping so quickly you can't even see them.πβ₯οΈ

I had to laugh. At this point maybe. He was eyeing. His. Lunch. Or supper
Bears are very attracted to the sugar water in hummingbird feeders.
So are Yellowjackets. We learned to hang the feeders *away* from the patio seating. Way far away.
I use wasp traps close to the feeders and they start to go there instead. But I do have all of my hummingbird feeders away from outdoor activities too!
Grand idea, wasp traps! Youβre doubly sure they wonβt wander into your can of Coke before you take a big drink from it. Damn Yellowjacket stung the roof of my mouth. Yes, that really happened.
I believe it! It's one of my fears. We use can covers. These aren't the wasp traps that I have, but they're similar. They say to put apple juice and a Tb of sugar (and some say some raw meat) inside, but last year I read to use beer and sugar, and that worked even better for me.
What keeps them from coming back out?
I don't know. But they don't
Thank you for the tips! I just canβt do wasps & spiders. Or tarantula killers & snakes.
I relocate spiders and snakes, because they are beneficial to the environment (I can't stand them, but I won't kill them) Wasps are a different story, and can be dangerous. If you have questions about the wasp traps, please feel free to dm π
spiders are fascinating to watch build their web, great engineers, mice and snakes same. The possums I leave alone and actually put food out, old veggie scraps, old apples. And yes, stay away from them.
I agree!
My husband relocates snakes. We had a cat living here who was a wonderful snake hunter. Sheβd catch them, bring them in the house and let them go. Then weβd all tiptoe around, afraid weβd step on a little garter snake.
Yikes! We had a baby snake in the basement, and I relocated it, but wanted to move π
Oki didnβt. Know that thank you my sister. In law. Has humming bird. Feeders. Where. She. Lives. At no. Bears she hasnβt. Seen any. Bears
Wowβ¦I canβt even see his wings! ππ»
π
Amazing, you canβt see his wings moving.

That's how I would meet my maker. Trying to cuddle the bear. π
I thought they were only in fairy tales.
They move their wings so fast, you can't even see them!

Sorry for copying, I should have looked at the posts first.
Omgosh, lots of people say the same thing in replies. You were just saying what popped into your head.
Oh, I don't mind! Like minds!

Thankfully, our bears have never gotten into our Hummingbird feeders but we've lost a few seed feeders to them. I have to bring the best feeders in at night.
I don't remember you talking about bears before! Wow!
They generally only come here in Spring when they're esp hungry. But we've had them pass thru in the summertime, too. Generally at night though we have had 3 during the afternoon hours. Thankfully, we saw them before they reached the feeders. The Spring nighttime bears are the most destructive.
Oh, I'm sure - they're so hungry. That's really interesting!
He looks kind of big to be a hummingbird a bear I mean. I don't think there's enough there to satisfy him though.
π
You have the best posts!
That's such a kind thing to say - thank you π
Your sweet water ran out, so Iβm gonna take this.

Someone needs a sweet drink! Canβt believe folks donβt know about hummingbears. They are a unique species.

Ha! I had raccoons do this all the time. Kept drinking all my feederβs sugar water. Had to get a hooks that bolted onto the deck railing that would hang the feeders out far enough that raccoons couldnβt reach & tip them.
Our Gila woodpeckers hang upside down in the feeder to get the sugar water and it spills all over.
Hummingccoons! π
