Maybe a dumb question, but do any adults not from the US still have occasional stress dreams like you're back in school? Wondering if this is uniquely a symptom of the American education system or more widespread.

Not an American thing at all. Everybody does around me anyway. It's so common we don't have to explain it.
I lived for 17 years in the same dormroom in studenthousing, so long after getting my degree. Years later I would dream I was still living there, but didn't recognize the room anymore as mine.
Usually the stress is caused by bad memories. Like a teacher who didn't hide s(he) didn't like you, or classmates or schoolmates who bullied you. I was bullied in high school, but I knew that would stop after graduation. Never had stressdreams about that later in life.
Heard that from people around here too, also happens to me sometimes, but at least for me that isnt due to the education system.
I’m pretty sure it’s international. I had them too. I haven’t had any recently, but I’ve also been out of school for two decades.
Not me personally, but I hear other people here do have those. I have very few memories of school, too long ago 😎
Nothing comes to mind. Maybe once about an assignment for uni that I forgot? But I mostly forget my dreams really fast.
I bet some of it is also how much media is set in schools. So our brain is always reminded of it every time we watch something like DanDeDan or Wednesday
No, I think it is international.
I can't answer from personal experience, but the comedy group Foil Arms and Hog have a video about adults having stressful dreams about the Leaving Certification exams in Ireland. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHum...
Never
I never have school dreams. Because the only time I felt bad in school was when Mr McDermot rapped me on the hand in Infants. I had written my own name in Biro on Josephine Nicholls' umbrella handle! I never felt that someone might burst in and kill me and all my classmates with massive guns.
I do find myself back at uni. Where i can't find my way, and I can't even remember what course I'm doing.
Yes… but I am a retired teacher.
No I've got too many other things to do to waste time thinking about that
Yes it is common in Brazil, at least among former students of demanding high schools and colleges.
Acho que no Brasil é comum, vou investigar.
Yep! I'm 43 and there are still coming! Always about university though.
