If you’re at DragonCon, I will be holding forth on sparrow sexes! I have even made a POWERPOINT!

I read that as swallow sexes at first, and I'm sticking with it (mainly for the Monty Python quote)!
I think the nerds will appreciate the effort!
I am so excited about this!!!!
Ursula x Effin Birds crossover opportunity 👀
Wish I were going to be there!
Out of curiosity, will white-throated sparrows be covered, with their 4 sexes kind of? A pity that the ruff (Calidris pugnax), with its 4 sexes, isn't a sparrow. It's fascinating ... wait, there may be female faeders too?
I saw those guys in their breeding plumage in Sweden! It was so cool.
They’re weird and I love them! But the sparrows are interesting because while a female ruff could breed with any of the three ruffs, the white throated is rarely successful breeding with its same color morph.
True, they always need some combo of tan/white striped to breed. This is why these “iT’s bASic bIOlogy” people always give me a headache, dude, biology is so complicated. It’s why people study it and get advanced degrees in it.
That’s the sparrow in question!
My little White-throated buddies!
why oh why is it so far away
Excellent topic!
this looks...absurdly fun
Oh, man, I wish I could be there! I love hearing about sparrow sexes. They're very cool.
I am working so hard right now to fight my curiosity and stop myself from looking that up so I can be surprised and delighted during your talk.
At my previous company, the software department's monthly meeting had a lightning talk slot, where someone would talk about something they found interesting. Siobhán's presentation about pigeons (approving) was for years spoken of with awe as the most informative 10 minutes any of us had ever had
Oh, dang. I'm sorry I'm missing DragonCon. That sounds fantastic!
