Would you please explain? White-throated sparrows have the white-stripe / tan-stripe dichotomy, with kind of 4 sexes, but a quick search doesn't show anything unusual about black-capped chickadee or Carolina chickadee reproduction. www.audubon.org/magazine/fas...

What is interesting to me is that they continuously cross and back cross with each other but the hybrids are limited to certain geographical ranges. My bird expert was unable to tell me if these crosses were viable. Similarly we wondered about Roseate and Common Teens which share nesting grounds.
