Trump has had a vendetta against wind farms for decades. There was a thing back in the 90s (I think) where he sued a wind farm operating miles off the coast of one of his properties for "ruining the view" or something. (It was barely visible from the shore.)
he's also very much backed by fossil fuel money, so it's both that Trump is insane, and this is pay to play.
