Baby’s fine and with mom who was playing possum. If for any reason she wasn’t I would have called a wild life rescue.

if the tummy was moving that might just mean that her babies are alive and not her! i hope you checked further to make sure mama was alive still

Yes we followed up and checked on her and the baby. She had moved on with baby. It was in front of my parents house so not out in the middle of no where.

Last year I found 2 medium sized young ones about 20’ from each other. Not moving. Poked them, pulled their tails, nothing. Vultures were flying around. I sadly went to the shed to dig out a shovel to bury them and on my way back saw them running together into the woods😁

They will play dead for quite awhile. I had just walked in that spot so we know she had been startled and was playing dead. The baby kept trying to follow us so we left the yard. Came back a couple hours later and they were gone.
