Can you just imagine the pristine folks out in the hot summer fields with their judicious supply of sunscreen & bug spray? The immigrant workers are the hardest workers in the world.

I agree. I work with the Multilingual in a middle school. I've seen such hard-working kids and their families. Lots of the kids I work with know 3-4 languages. Very smart indeed. I hope to encourage the kids that I work with to become who they want to be.
Just married we moved to Oregon in 1976. Needed money and saw an ad for pea pickers at 3 cents a pound. Lasted one day. Terribly hot in the field and backbreaking work. At the end of the day, we found out that they were taking out money for use of the bags we used for collection - also insurance!
Sounds like you’ll be waiting like Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin. Never going to happen.
When I was in high school, we would go pick grapes for the wineries in the Finger Lakes region. Do the local students still pick grapes for extra money?
I checked... They use automated grape harvesters now.
Right!!
Don't hold your breath
There has been long a government conspiracy to provide a pool of cheap labor in most undesirable jobs that can be abused, cheated, underpaid with no benefits for the convenience of greedy employers. When there was any resistance or threat to such policies, such as labor unions, jobs moved overseas.
Crickets
Yeah those lucrative fruit picking jobs are in demand
We need to address the idea that creating a sub class of people to pick produce is a new version of sharecropping. Its not pro immigrant to say it's ok to be paid less cause no one wants to do it especially since the new AI robotics fruit picker will take that job away within five years.
Yep, exploitation. I heard a thought that was being floated by the Trump regime is using ICE detainees for work. That's slavery at best and worse than Jim Crow.
They's comin fer ar jerbs!
A non-voting friend of mine told me the raids/tariffs are to "protect jobs and bring them back to America". I asked him two simple questions. 1. Are you going to go pick fruit or make shoes? 2. What would you do if you walked into the store tomorrow and everything on the shelf cost 3x the price?
Chicken Taco Krasnov is backing down from that idiocy ,he's talking about farms not being included in his kidnapping scheme.
And the big Taco’s already done his “never mind” on that .
Don't hold your breath, your face will turn blue!
😁🤣😂🤣
It’s possible you could be waiting a while on that one 🤣
I've actually done that. We had blackberry jam and apple jelly in our cellar. We also had apples, onions, and potatoes tucked inside hay. Was it fun? Nope. It's hard work. I've also put up hay and planted tobacco. We boomers had such grand childhoods. 🤔
If they just recruit that 53% of white women who voted to pick lettuce in removal of that 60% who provide "assistance" I'm sure they'd be fine with helping out a white farmer....own it.
That’s not going to happen 🙅 Migrants workers take these jobs, because they have Family to provide for💗 And yes probably no papers, but the employers don’t mind! And they have Families to provide for 💓 That’s their main goal, taking care of Family❣️
I have a good friend who is first generation and his dad made all of his kids spend time with relatives in Calexico picking oranges and lemons to learn values and respect for others.
