Speaking as a pensioner, may I point out that we have brains and free will. We've also spent our entire adult lives watching the behaviour of our political class steadily deteriorate. So we're not inclined to trust them without seeing the receipts.

Perhaps setting up was the wrong phrase. But certainly using that demographic for the extra publicity. Certainly wouldnt have been as effective if it had been mainly scruffy young people. (ie the stereotype activist)
I see what you mean. However I'd argue that they are self-selecting, given the horrendous consequences of an arrest, never mind a conviction. If they don't need to apply for a job, run a business or travel freely, they may feel more able to accept the consequences.
As mentioned I am a pensioner, but I run a business and employ people. Confiscation of my devices, and potentially the freezing of bank accounts would be disastrous for me an my staff.
