It’s really sad. Back in the days of Walter Cronkite the news was viewed as a responsibility and a loss write off. As soon as they figured out how to turn it into entertainment and make a profit it went to hell, first Fox showed up then the rapid descent to what we have now - feckless propaganda.
The saddest part is the complicity of journalists. It’s not just the integrity of the companies, it’s the individual journalists who no longer have any integrity and they seem fine with it as long as they have a job.
Yup, they do what they’re told or they’re gone. Just once I would like to hear one of them yell “are you fucking kidding me? You’re so full of shit!” at him at one of his sorry excuses for a press “conference,” when he’s blithering his incoherent nonsense. First one to do so will become a folk hero.
