They're gonna use this to put troops down and say we've weaponized protesting. This may be the shooting heard round the world. A shit storm is coming. Nothing good comes of this.
I personally question whether any of those loud-mouthed folks are actually praying at all.
What I can’t understand is seeing some American right wing pastors actually owning guns- showing them and seeing nothing wrong with it! Men who have children!
Hear that, all you “thoughts and prayers” (and do nothing more) folks?
This post hits the nail on the head! I feel so sad and frustrated and angry each time another mass shooting happens. What you said above explains why we feel so lost. There is never even an honest attempt at a solution!
True AND they're not praying to stop the violence. They're not praying for change. They're not praying for children's safety. They'll just say they pray to save face.
Except in these cases the ‘thoughts and prayers’ are always hypothetical. To actually do it would require concern, empathy and a conscience. Nothing that is generally exhibited by a politician.
Not only unwilling to solve, but actively contributed to.
I'm sure if God is real he would be yelling at everyone to stop praying and to make actual change
Let’s create a special prayer book, with verbatim quotes of the prayers actually voiced by politicians to their gods after pointless mass shootings. Highlight the prayers, if any, that worked. People don’t seem to be praying the right way.

Like the mayor said, “these children were praying. They were in church praying.”
It's the evangelical way of doing religion.
Words without deeds are worthless.
I would like to change the word "hypocritical" to "diabolical."
The US deals with the aftermath of mass shootings, not the problems that get them there.
Not to mention the fact that they were already praying. They were in church.
Agreed 100%. It’s all BS and it has been since Sandy Hook.

So true - or one that was created
Thoughts and prayers are akin to wishful thinking and having a recipe without the ingredients. Most people's prayers are typically selfish too !!! When was the last time you heard someone say "Bless everyone and everything?"
The fake republican response from a group of criminal heathens.
But, on the other hand, there are only some problems that God can solve. Did not Paul say, "pray without ceasing?" Moreover, it's the heighth of hypocrisy when the two extremely divided sides on an issue have been going at it for years...with no compromise or solution... therefore God...
YES 😡 And who the hell are they praying to, given that if there WAS a god it would never let this happen - would it? 👿
Well said.
yea verily. It makes a travesty of prayer.
It's just saying, in theory I'm there for you, but in practice I can't be bothered.
My definition of magic is belief power working to establish a change in the world around you. Prayer is a form of magic in this sense, in that the structure is: ask the divine to intercede and if you are worthy they will. So are they not asking or are they not worth or do they not believe?
Similarly... There's a church in northern Michigan that did a yardsign campaign that said "God bless America". Many of the yards also had the name of the sexual predator they voted for. You don't get to actively choose a serial abuser to destroy our country & then ask God to bless it.
In a similar vein, Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams: "Tears without action are wasted sentiment".
“Trump is a fascist.” Also “Let’s make guns illegal and trust the (fascist) government to preserve our human rights.” How about you advocate for determining why white trans teens like shooting up schools and churches.

“Faith without deeds is dead.” — James 2:26 At this point, I don’t call it merely hypocrisy, I call it evil. Those who have been vested with the power to change this refuse to do so, either out of fear of their constituents, or because they’ve sold their souls & campaigns to the gun lobby, or both.
