Yes. A long time ago I was in an accident with my 12 week old puppy and he ended up under my feet and the pedals. Everyone is restrained in the car since then, regardless of species. I grew up riding in open truck beds with dogs…we can learn!

My German Shepherd is a fast learner. A couple of weeks ago he was afraid to activate the automatic door at our Ace Hardware. Now he activates it, walks up to the check out stand and demands his milk bone by blocking the exit from the counter area with wagging tail until receipt of his treat.

He may be closer to having his own podcast than one might think. A trainer told me I he would not be smart enough to get the difference between "Speak", a loud bark, and "Whisper" a low vocalization. He does it regularly now. All we have to work on is vocabulary. This dog is smart!

The trainer was new at their job? We had a dog who could whisper and speak, too. He was a Doberman. You've seen those buttons that let dogs communicate, right? They are smarter than we think, and they've learned English (or any other human language) even if they can't vocalize.
