I have no idea whether it's the gait that lets my dog tell — from a moving car — that some tiny squab is actually a canine so she can maniacally bark at it. I wish it were only dogs 30 lbs. and up. So does my hearing.

Knowing dogs, Reggie still thinks he's about Pearl's size, still able to fit under that table, in that bed he used as a puppy, or snuggle on your lap. Conversely, Pearl probably thinks she's as big and intimidating as Reggie: She'll stand up to any challengers, be they dog, man, or bear.

I remember clients that had a Great Dane & a Yorkie. They were hilarious. That old Dane was so happy to have that Yorkie boss him around everyday. If Yorkie was gone to the groomer he sulked until the Yorkie was back home.

Long ago, I got a male great dane puppy. He was the sweetest, gentlest pup. We had many adventures together but he sadly died young. After about a year, I rescued a young female great dane. Decades later, I still miss her.

That is one of the hardest parts of losing a pup—when you have another pup attached to them. To this day I cannot say Kona’s name or Kai gets very agitated looking for her. She passed 4 years ago but they were best buds for 6 years! She’s the red one🥰
