Before I got Systemic Lupus Erythematodes & other chronic diseases in 1992, when I´d still been a teenie in the 1980s, I´d volunteered at our local shelter here in SW Germany. The dogs and cats were so grateful for every kiss, for every time I petted them or walked the pups. (I´m 54 & disabled) 😍😍😍

Our shelter dog Rico passed away recently, and the gift of love he gave to us was immeasurable. When we are ready to home a dog, we will go for another shelter dog. It's so rewarding for all involved.

Sweetie dogs. A couple of years ago I went to Animal Control to look at a dog listed as a Dutch Shepherd. Couldn't tell from the photo. He was an 8 mo. old pitbull! Did not want a pit but he was so friendly and happy to see a human....he came home with me.

This hits me hard. When I adopted Penny (who wasn't a shelter pup but clearly abused by previous owner), she was stressed out of her mind the first 2 nights — until I sat with her, gently stroked and kissed her head. She let out a long, loud cry. Almost sounded human. I've been her person since.

🧡Penny. Dogs can sound human when crying. My rescue Bailey was a talker; when we picked him up from an emergency vet we'd rushed him to after a dog attacked him & he lost an eye the vet had to remove, he wailed & sobbed just like a human on my lap on the way home. (l) was weeks later. He recovered.😌

Thank you. Was awful when the dog attacked Bailey, his face was bloodied & his eye proptosed. My Mom (with Bailey in 2015) and I rushed him to the emerg vet, she couldn't save his eye. Surgery & he was unsightly for weeks. But dogs heal amazingly. 3 mos of vet care and our TLC, and he lived to 17. 🥰

I have a shelter adopted beagle who acts like these guys when given a big hug Please adopt when you can .These dogs and cats deserve a chance, make wonderful pets , already house broken and get along with kids . Many are surrendered bc the owner got sick or died and family didn't want the pet .

I know someone that was very good at Monopoly as a kid. He ended up wealthy, but kinda soulless. He has a wife that I'm quite sure wouldn't even have talked to him if he wasn't wealthy. He also has no natural abilities when interacting with his two kids. I have zero envy of where he is in the game.
