Cords are actually not hard to maintain once they have started forming, simply requiring gently pulling them apart close to the skin to keep them separate. Show corded dogs usually have them bundled and tied up between shows to keep them from picking up debris that would have to be picked out.

Komondorok (plural of komondor) are not commonly kept in coat because they're so difficult to maintain. Poodle coats can also be corded and corded standard poodles look pretty similar to komondorok. There are a couple other corded breeds too but not nearly as impressive.

I should say, tho, that cording coats cord naturally; it's not a grooming contrivance. The high maintenance is for house pets for cleanliness and appearance; if the dog lives and works outdoors the coat is well suited and they're fine with very little care. The coats don't tangle or mat.

It’s called a Komondor. Pulis are like this too, but smaller and usually black. The cords grow naturally starting when they’re a few months old. I once knew a Puli named Winnie. 😏

It’s a Komandor, a Hungarian sheep dog breed. Pulis look similar but are smaller, also a Hungarian breed. Very cool spot irl!
