My pup would do the same at the lake . Little shih-tzu cross hated it when her ball was floating because every time she grabbed at it the ball would sink a little. She finally would work her ball onto the beach then pick it up. Would be running in out of the water for hours to play fetch.

I love golden’s! They are the best dogs. We have had 3. Murphy lived to 13 and had cancer. Marvin dies unexpectedly at 9 and had a bleeding abdominal tumor. Our current big guy is Melvin. He’s 1 and full of puppy craziness.

My dog just taught himself how to go underwater to get his ball, or anything else that was thrown. Then he realized that at lakes & rivers, he didn't need to wait for something to be thrown, he could dive for whatever he found, all the time. Tub & Blue are amateurs, sorry.
