Good luck Boomer. I've got the human version of Chushing's disease.. It's definitely controllable with the right medication and a healthy diet..

❤️😊
Cushings is relentless and debilitating. Sometimes it is kinder to make the decision to end suffering.
And I know many people won’t agree but I can tell you my dog was treated for 2 years after diagnosis and still would have some terrible nights that led to our decision that her quality of life didn’t warrant what she was going through.
😢
I love all dogs and wish they all lived forever. But He's 12. With a bad disease and no owner (who probably couldn't afford to care for him anymore). My dog needs her ACL repaired & her back/hips are bad. I should be begging but I'm not going to. Longevity is not the goal. Quality of life is.
Not only should there be universal healthcare for humans but for all dogs as well.
I lost a beloved mini schnauzer to Cushing's
Please share and donate. I will on my next paycheck.
Poor baby , my sweet precious Harley died because of that disease.
Is he adoptable?
Cushing Disease is a horrible disease, our chi had it, the cost to keep her alive was overwhelming, we finally had her put down.....
Lost my sweet old girl with Cushing's three years ago, after suffering with it for a year. The excessive thirst, and hunger, terrible skin issues, incontinence, then one day she couldn't stand up... It's a horrible disease. 😢💔
Same, lost my guy to Cushing's in August 2023. He was formally diagnosed following testing only a few months earlier. The skin disease - calcinosis cutis - was devastating. He had a terrible reaction to the last medicine we tried and that's when I knew he was tired and it was the end. 💔
😢
Mine too so sorry 😢
💔😢
🙁🩷
My best dog ever had Cushings & lived just over 3 years after diagnosis. Meds took an active & happy dog to docile & depressed. We cut the meds and he sprang back for almost 12 months. His belly got very big but he was still happy, but slow. He was 14 when we put him down due to liver failure.
😍
I've got a great Pyrenees with diabetes insipidous,or water diabetes.they can drink so much that they get sick, puke, die from it.dasmopressin eye drops help but still gotta watch the water
Yay! Caught it in time to donate. I love you, Boomer!
thank you so much for your help ❤️
where is Boomer and is he available for adoption? And I’m going to donate 💙 I’m in love 🥰
Suzy is my third Jack with Cushing's. With treatment they can live many more years. It is expensive but they're worth it.
my late dog had Cushing's. He drank so much water. SO MUCH.
Cushing’s is more or less diabetes in dogs and horses. Not hard to maintain once it’s been controlled.
omgosh who'd a thunk THAT diagnosis!?!?!? LOVE YOUR ANIMALS - GET THEM REGULAR CHECKUPS!
If he was a stray how did you know his age?
A vet can give a good estimate of age by looking at eyes & teeth.
Surely a pure guess baring in mind it’s been living on the streets however whag do I know
Eyes have aging changes that aren’t affected by the environment & generally speaking, teeth wear down with age, not with eating trash to survive.
I think one of my brother's and sister in-law's dogs might have this disorder too.
💙❤️🩹
Oh no.
My Cocker Spaniel had Cushings disease in 2004 she passed. They told me in 2001 the medication would neither extend her life nor give her better quality of life. So we went it alone. She was 14. She was so sweet and we had a great go of it.
My girl Jupiter had this. Poor sweet thing tried to drink an entire lake while we were hiking. Miss her all the time 💕
Very rare in people. Family member has it. It's awful. But luckily, treatable 💙
We had a dog with Cushing’s. She eventually developed diabetes that was initially very difficult to control. So watch closely. She went blind in a few months from cataracts. We had to make her own food and measure blood sugar several times a day. Insulin kept going up, to 40 IU/day. Good luck.
My senior dog has had Cushing for two years. She is doing well with medication. I hope Boomer will thrive for many more years 💕
My husky Jericho has cushings...I wish I could take this little guy.
We had a sheltie mix who was diagnosed with Cushing at 8 years old. Her prognosis was 2-3 years on western veterinary medicine. We also sought an opinion from a veterinarian who was trained in western veterinary medicine but also studied and practiced traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. Cont’
He would have prescribed whichever treatment would work best. In our dog’s case it was TCM. She lived 5 more years and they were pretty good years without the side effects she would have had in the western medicine treatment.
My Beagle Sandy passed away from Cushing Disease in 1993. She developed it later in her life. This is my favorite picture, which I took in the late 1990s.
This is a beautiful photo <3
A beautiful dog
Beautiful Sandy.🩷🩷🩷 My Lab, Star, was diagnosed with Cushing's at age 13. Vet said he had never treated a dog that senior for Cushing's in all his years practicing. I told him then Star would be his first. Despite dire prognosis she lived another near 3 yrs: 3 months shy of her 16th birthday.
Same for my old girl. She’s still going.
Oh
💞🙏🏽🐾
My dog had Cushing's about that age. The treatment (Vetoryl) is not 'lifelong', you give it until his blood tests show the balance has been restored. In our case it was about 3 months.
🥰
Ok boomer........get better please 🥺
My girl was diabetic, and had Cushing’s Disease. She lived to be 14 years old with meds for both conditions.
So do I. <3
Go to Prana Pets They are an amazing company headed by a very smart and compassionate owner. Their Cushings treatment is wonderful. www.pranapets.com/collections/...
Cushing’s is a horrible disease. We’ve lost two dogs to it. It’s expensive and difficult to treat. By the time it’s diagnosed, it has usually done so much damage prognosis is poor. I wish Boomer the very best in his fight.
Twelve years? Oh gee Gotta love him but I'm not sure
Not sure of what. He deserves as much love if not more than a young pup
Well absolutely I just wonder how many more years he'll live, if not from the disease
My sweet girl was 3 months ftom turning 13 when she got it. She lived 2.5 weeks past her 15th birthday. Those 2+ years were a blessing. She did great until a few weeks prior to her passing. You can't give up.
Doesn’t matter really as long as he knows he’s loved til the very end 💜💜💜
I’ve got a 16 year old pup, clean bill of health from the vet yesterday. Boomer deserves that too. 💖
Nice, proud of that guy All I know is one my dad had passed away at 14
I’m with you. Pup has had a good stretch in dog years. I’d let pup go to the rainbow.
Oh boy The panic attacks are no joke either
💞💞🛐🛐
💝
Boomer might benefit from Pau d’Arco tea in his water bowl.
PSA: Don't go putting unproven, random plants of which you can't control the dosage into your pet's food or water as a perceived replacement for the safe and proven medication prescribed by your vet. K-thx-bye! 🫶
Came vet recommended. PSA: you’re rude
What brand, what dosage? 🙂
Oh good lord. Can you imagine the pile on I would get if I shared the info with you here? First answer: Please refer to your western-trained veterinarian.
For myself I try to purchase bulk from my co-op bc I know the source. The vet suggested Traditional Medicinals brand, 1 teabag in 10 ounces boiled water to make tea. Steep 1/2 hour. Add 4 ounces cooled tea to 4 cups water in bowl. Keeps 24 hours. They like it. Dog is 16 lbs, cat is 18 lbs
I’m so glad I didn’t command the dog owner to eschew veterinary care and replace it with a dietary supplement used thousands of years longer than pharmaceuticals and just suggested it might also benefit. Rabid people.
I was waiting for the snarky comment ! Folks have different perspectives and just can’t get over that fact. Command ? Seriously, this is social media …
My bad. Your comment is helpful, informative and not snarky. I would take mine back and delete it but it’s really for someone else. I was wrong to post my comment to yours. And it’s staying for the rude comment not associated with yours.
😢❤️🐾🐾
Cute dog.
I have that too, Boomer! Don't worry- you're gonna be so loved that that doesn't even matter!
aww he looks like my Chippy who also has Cushing's Disease. the meds are a life saver 😊
TIME IS SHORT,ITS ALMOST THE END OF THIS WORLD AS WE KNOW IT,YOU NEED TO READ MY BIO AND CLICK MORE INFO on X,IN ORDER TO KNOW HOW TO TRULY BE REBORN AND SAVED AND LOVED FOR EVER AND EVER, @CHUCK77781
If it is caused by a pituitary tumor , it might not be that treatable. We had a 35 lb mini schnauzer with it ( she was gifted to us), who was treated for Cushings from a tumor, but ended up having seizures and dying at about 9. I don’t know if they remove tumors through a dog’s nose like people
I’ll never forgive Peter Cushing for this.
our dog, Takkun, also has Cushing's...on top of having a cancerous tumor removed from one of his salivary glands. Takkun was found in an ice filled roadside ditch by a friend of a friend of an acquaintance, as a pup. we're all fighting something. this is our fight. I hope you spoil him silly.
Selegiline (Anipryl) – For specific cases of pituitary-dependent Cushing’s My late doxie was diagnosed at 10 with this and lived another 6 years on this med. For pituitary cushings. This is an informative site. www.k9cushings.com/forum/activi...
What a handsome pup!
Ask me a little bit of my Stephen. Wish I that I had the ability to take him in
Reminds me I mean
Our rescue pup, an older Bangkok soi dog, who waas physically abused by a former owner, also has cushing's disease, and must be brought to the vet almost weekly.
What a cute dog
obsessed with little boomer 🫶
My sweet girl has Cushing's, and the constant drinking is real! She's doing great/better than before since being on Vetoryl for 2 years!
Wow, what a difference! Our dog had Cushing’s. It was very expensive to treat but worth every penny and I miss him a lot ❤️ Hope that your pup stays well. 💕
Poor baby ❤️
@weratedogs.com I have question...your avatar gives off certain vibes... Is this a doggo?
I have an 18 year old dog with Cushings. She does well with her meds and still acts like a maniac tearing around the house and attacking my other dog.
Sounds like my grandpa with dementia.
Try Prana Pet's all natural treatment. It's excellent. I used their products during the last year of my 65 lb. smart, beautiful and highly intelligent Border Collie who lived to nearly 17 years old. www.pranapets.com/collections/...
So delightfully whiskery ❤️
Cushing’s is not fun, but far easier to treat then it’s opposite, Addison’s disease. Dogs with Addison’s can have a crisis which can be fatal, Cushing’s dogs never have fatal episodes.
Yes, my sister has Addison’s. Doctors often call it Adrenal insufficiency ( which is kind of a trendy granola term) , but it is actually total adrenal failure. She has undergone surgery twice, and has not been covered with extra steroids due to failure of the Anesthetists taking it seriously
And Aldosterone
Ah, Cushings. Hence the constant thirst. Sending good vibes to Boomer! ✨✨✨✨
🥰♥️
💔❤️🤗🙏
Harley had Cushing's and Pancreatitis. A rescue. He was about 11 when we got him. Lots of vet visits for nearly 3 years. He died of Leukemia. Huge loss. Great little lad.
His teefs 🥰
My dog has Cushings & takes a pill everyday. She’s 13 we think.
Our Gracie had it for 5 years. She lived to age 12. Hers was very well controlled with medication.
