I thought the same thing as I was listening to something about the topic on NPR. If I were still in the age group of concern, I doubt I’d want to bring a child into this world.

That’s my reason. I love kids, I love spoiling my niblings’ and friends’ babies, but I feel very strongly that I’d have an obligation to provide my child a better world than I had. I can’t do that.

We’re also rejecting the notion of the nuclear heterosexual marriage as a default. Men invented it to isolate women and their labor. Step 1 of the abuser: isolate the victim Step 2: control their speech and thoughts Step 3: hobble them financially thru childbirth Etc

#metoo and SM has freed women to form vast community, and men no longer control our speech or our narrative. This means more women feel empowered to say they don’t want kids. In my day it was taboo as a woman to say it and I’m genX. I’m so glad we’re empowering each other ❤️
