While the idea of having government approved parenting styles is dystopian in itself, there needs to be punishment for actively making your child a worse person.
As a parent, I say we need neither. The government should provide resources, tools, frameworks and information to parents. There is NO perfect parenting method, but if I have the means to evaluate, select and apply based on my own judgement, that is already enough. As for the punishment...
... we already live in such times where even the punishment based on good intention can and will be subverted into evil means. Everybody is entitled to raise/screw up their kid how they want. But no one should complain if the means for raising kids in a responsible and mindful way are accessible.
I just feel bad for the kids who don't get a fair shot at life because of people who are super closed minded and ignorant and bigoted. I do think there is not one right way to parent your children, but I do genuinely feel sorry for the kids who are pigeon-holed by short-sighted adults. Government-
Mandating parenting styles is definitely a touch too dystopian for me, but I just feel bad that people with no business homeschooling, really can rob their kids of so much. I do know parents who do an amazing job homeschooling too, it's just that not everyone is cut out for it. I know myself -
That I'm not cut out to homeschool! Also if my eldest is any clue, she would be MISERABLE, she is SO social and loves being in a classroom with other kids every day. I definitely still teach my kids too, but I do see the value in the social aspect, especially when our eldest is a social butterfly.-
Our youngest kiddos (twins) turn 3 in November, so they're not ready for school yet. But I do think homeschooling is not for everyone/ every kid.
