Potentially. But I dunno... trauma often shapes a person's worldview. Pushes them right on over into Hobbes most of the time. I've seen it so many times, it's crazy.

Yup, exactly that. Generational. Societal. Cultural. All of it. It's as if we're living in Pompeii, next to Mt. Vesuvius, and it's exploding daily. But social support is like an antidote to life's hardships.

I'll have to check into this book. I've been trying to find ways to sort through the increasing pressure from all sides we're experiencing.

In the ever increasing noise, chaos and velocity, our attention and conscience has been splintered. Hedonism, among other things, has taken a toll.
I agree. It's an easily-accessible pain reliever. But it's not working as well as it used to. It will NEVER rival SOCIAL SUPPORT! There's never been a more important time to have a very strong (but often small) group of supportive ppl around. It's the key. The secret to making it.
