The current administration clearly wants a segment of their population to be fearful, suffer, and die. Nothing else makes any sense.

Everything else is smokescreen. Capitalists could make money providing healthcare and housing, but a safe, stable working class would compete for a piece of the profits. This is why we have money for war, but not schools. It's not about "spending", it's about controlling the masses.
