That is patently not true - please read the Snopes article. Misinformation isn't good in any situation.
I haven't read anything published to back that up though my search was not exhaustive. I think it was spread online but not true.

They're in trouble, for sure. Farming industries have seen double the number of Chapter 12 filings in comparison to last year, and they've got close to a $300 million shortfall that they're trying to legislate themselves out of. But no state bankruptcy.
