It's honestly baffling to me that there are folks out there saying Bluesky is *just* like Twitter. The rhetoric of hate is so deeply out of hand that it has rotten entire communities to the core. On a personal level, my mental health is doing so much better by not being active in that horrid place.

I’m so glad I made the move over here. Seeing the owner of that platform spewing the same shit it worries me. My metal health has improved a lot since the move. I work in local government and these people will be showing up to our public meetings. Luckily I don’t directly interact but it is worrying

Twitters atmosphere of animosity, anger, and aggression alienates common sense people in the same way that the lack of that moment-to-moment hostility here on bluesky is alienating to folks who thrive on it. Bluesky isn't perfect. People still have their high horses but it's definitely not the same
Yeah, Bluesky is definitely not perfect. I was just called a bot over this post LOL, but a swift click and the person was gone. Overall, there is a much more reasonable conversation to be had here.

Right there with you. I was obsessive(?) over Twitter. Almost always just looking for an argument, and while that was definitely my problem and not inherently the app’s, I also always found that argument even when I wasn’t looking. Even people’s arguments on here are more civilized lol
Yeah the conversations here are quite amicable for the most part.
I know people who say their feed is very similar between the two. I think we have a really good little community here that I wish I could be a more active part of.
Hope onto ANY post on Twitter. Look at the replies. You have to scroll past multiple boosted irrelevant replies for ages before you can find anything related to the original post. BlueSky doesn’t do that.

Assholes exist here too, but they’re far fewer in number and can be easily blocked. I deleted Twitter because it pissed me off to use. This site I actually want to be active. Are there less people here? Yes, but I always say quality > quantity.
