The homestead act takes care of this. Taxes can be deferred to heirs and when the properties are actually sold. I disagree with the property tax exemption after 65 simply because the burden will then fall on younger people who often do not have the means to pay the extra taxes.
Understood, but there’s are new taxpayers coming on the rolls everyday, just like taxpayers die off everyday. Balance.
Home prices are too high for buyers now. Additional property taxes will push them out of the market. I think everyone needs to pay their tax burden, including the very wealthy.
