I struggle with this too. I think it’s the ones that have had to fight for their own rights, that are more empathetic towards others. The ones that got the status through marriage or birth, are much more problematic. I tell off my Canadian relatives on racist nonsense all the time.

I’ve noticed I see quite a few accounts here with Canadian flags in them that have the most obviously white male supremacist takes. While I get their concern— understandable for folks living upstairs from a meth lab— I wish they’d look into their own polities tendencies first.
