This is a general question as I try to understand the opposition to AI. How does AI destory the planet compared to traditional data centers? Data centers use closed loop cooling that constantly recycle their water supply. While AI requires GPU, why can't that be closed loop cooling as it is now?

I appreciate the response. AI could be powered and cooled ethically (renewables, eventually fusion, etc) but the vast vast majority of the billionaires directing and driving the AI charge are not doing so, like Elon, Mark, and Sam and have zero desire to change to do so is my take away.
