i feel like i can tell who is a parent and who isn’t by reading this thread. having a kid gives you 10x the anxiety you had before. no, it’s not rational, but also we live in environments designed to make you go insane (shootings, media boosting crime, ecological collapse, rise of fascism, etc)

not to mention car centric built environment. every single moment of modernity in my lifetime has been a one way ratchet removing your autonomy and trying to squeeze the joy out of your life

It speaks to how bad your parents were at raising you that you feel so comfortable ghoulishly invoking the specter of literal murdered children to justify your fucked up untreated control issue

hi friend, my kids aren’t old enough to read yet and i am pro banning phones. take a second and re-read my post; i am saying that i understand the impulse to check in constantly because we live in a sick society, not that it is good or worthwhile

which part? ppl without kids don’t understand what it’s like to be a parent. i can’t read up thread because that dingus blocked me but there was a lot of “why are parents like that???” and imho the answer is having kids makes you 10x more anxious and we live in a sick society.

I don't know anyone here has that problem. But I do think they have a common poster's issue of looking for cheap dunks and never backing down or admitting even partial fault. Deciding other people are for scoring points and not really people. And that's why I started blocking them.

I do sympathize with this but my thing with parents is they should be more worried that their kid is distracted all day, cheating, or choosing to scroll instead of socialize. The damage this is doing to your kid is very documented and real, and it's happening every day unlike a freak shooting.
