And it's absolutely necessary in the modern military. We face asymetic threats from a variety of nations and non-state actors. Every perspective & insight needs to be at the at the table.

The late Senator Bob Graham wrote about the state of the US intelligence community being run by a bunch of uncultured, cookie-cutter white folks. They don't speak foreign languages or know anything about the areas they should keep an eye on because of the lack of diversity.
