Moore was the Platonic ideal of a 1970's man. But my favorite Bond was Pierce Brosnan. [No, I will not be taking questions]

😴
There are Black Englishmen. Personally I wish Idris Elba could get offered the role. He won’t though because it’d break too many people’s brains. He’s counting himself out though, “too old for Bond”. He’s 52. Idris Elba was born in Hackney, greater London.
He's another one of those men "who could leave biscuit crumbs in my bed". 😉 His performance in 'Luther' was breathtaking. But he acknowledges he's too old for the role.
Whoa whoa, Asha, Brosnan was a pretty good Bond, and that motorcycle scene in Tomorrow Never Dies was about as hot as two people get who aren't actually doing the horizontal hula
He's too pretty
Like I want to see a Bond movie, not School Ties
pettissimus
I liked him, but he was Remington Steele, not Bond. Too pretty.
Yep. He was a snooze for me, too.
I think that's why they put him in military gear to introduce him to audiences in Goldeneye. (They did the same with Dalton in Living Daylights.) Butches up the character.
Yeah Dalton also has pretty factor so that makes sense. You need at least a slightly rugged look
With Craig, they just skipped over rugged to "skinny and blond and not great looking"
wtf are you talking about Tom
I don’t think Daniel Craig gets “skinny and mid” too often, but I’m no expert.
I’m enjoying this conversation! lol
I think Tom should defer to the experts on male hotness. I trust Asha's take on this one. Sorry, Tom.
I'm talking about the guy an inch shorter than me who played the weaselly Conor Rooney and didn't get much manlier as a pouty Bond
he's hot tho
Just too broody. I don't want to be Bond's therapist. I just want to hop in the sack with him and then have him leave the next morning
I’m here for the debate between the two of you. (I’ve followed both for a long time.) Interesting that Tom responds to you very differently than to others making similar kinds of points. :-)
I’ve got to know what you think of Rege-Jean Page . Watching him in Bridgerton was 🔥 Pretty my every female I recommended the show to agreed .
George Lazenby rn
I would pay good money to listen to a podcast in which @asharangappa.bsky.social and @radiofreetom.bsky.social discuss Bond movies, so long as @kenwhite.bsky.social was pouring the drinks and providing color commentary.
This is the best thread of my day 😊 thanks for that
Nah
Oh man, see I saw Craig in Munich first where he’s an assassin and I thought he was a badass ever since. Probably a case of primacy setting our interpretation of him
And wait a sec, I’m 5’10” I’m, that’s average male height for all those height shamers out there… Tom 🤣🤣🤣
Fleming’s ideal Bond was David Niven, who bore a passing resemblance to Ian Fleming.
…me, on a regular basis.
Lots of people having some cocktails tonight. I get it, but at some point, realize you no longer make sense. Get some sleep and regroup. We'll all be here tomorrow.
Tom is missing the 60s
At least Daniel didn’t have to wear a toupee
Skinny?? Oy.
But can really act. The best pure actor to play Bond.
You’ve had some takes, but this 👆🏼??? 🙄 Trolling extraordinaire, no doubt
But he did have that "I'm a hammer and you're a nail, a pitiful, inconsequential nail" bearing. There's a brutishness to the character that Connery and Craig had that Moore and Remington Steele lacked imo
I think Asha’s hit something here. You can always put a dinner jacket on a tough guy, but you can’t make a dinner jacket-wearer tough. The next Bond actor will fit the role to the extent that he’s the veteran of lots of pub fights in his earlier years. Connery was a brawler.
"A blunt instrument"
The greatest contribution Goldeneye introduced was the Nintendo game.
Connery was phenomenal. Moore was a little too cavalier. Dalton, eh. Brosnan was good but not perfect Craig was superb.
It didn't help Moore that the productions he was in were the laziest of the series. That 'drugged driver on the FDR' scene in Live and Let Die never fails to make me laugh.
You’re just bickering for no other reason than to bicker.
I think we can all agree that the next Bond should really be an American, right?
Best Bonds in order: Brosnan Craig Connery Moore Dalton The Other Guy (Lazenby, I’m just kidding) Fight me on this!
Agree źzzzzzzz
Mine too!
Thank you! ☺️ I have found the storyline mostly hold up. I mean you can't tell me Elon doesn't fall into a K hole fantasizing about Ice hotels & how to make "invisible" Teslas.
