Just witnessed Nobel winner Paul Krugman FaceTime loudly with somebody with one hand and pile free food onto his plate with the other while a person he had his back to gave a speech. He was wearing a hoodie. A master of the form.

That's a second Nobel right there
Lifetime achievement award
Proof we are all just grad students
I would love to see him and Joyce Carol Oates have a tête-à-tête.
I'd like to see them handcuffed together - complete opposites, forced to work together and forming a deep bond - in a remake of The Defiant Ones
I don't think they're opposites at all! I think they'd love each other.
I felt the same about Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier. I kind of wanted them to make out a little
How about Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon?
Not just them. I've always wanted to see all the golden age Oscar winners - Bogart, Gary Cooper, Anthony Quinn, Robert Donat... dozens more.. all handcuffed together, no script, minimal set design, and they'd all just ... act.
I adore Krugman. I'm addicted to his Substack in a way I never was with his NYT columns. He is a Character.
Somehow this made me miss living in Great Neck
God, your memoirs…
Amazing
Loving his life of no longer having to explain that he’s an op-ed writer but isn’t on the editorial board
