Leave a light on for us #EU.. We're coming home one day. #RejoinEU
Leave a light on for us #EU.. We're coming home one day. #RejoinEU
Looking at the 'neithers' it seems more people are taking an interest, and taking a position. This is important. Pre-2016 the EU was something most people were content to be in, but they paid little attention to what benefits membership actually brought. Hopefully now we know.
OK, this is some real data, approx 52% Rejoin, 34% Leave 14% Don't know. This means that if all the Don't knows vote Leave (possible, since these are the guys most likely to be influenced), then Rejoin would still win. #RejoinEU
I think while 1/3 of UK are happier out, a strong push to Rejoin will fracture the country further It'll make Leavers who felt ignored, marginalised, disenfranchised (whether true or not) before 2016 even more resentful & feel vindicated that the deep state is against them It will be worse than now
So we have to pander to the badly behaved idiot kids in the class to make them feel better? Nah.
The way I see it, 50% of the country is split, so if it goes down to 33%, that's an improvement. Though I concur about how they would feel. #RejoinEU.
i wonder how many "remain" people who didn't bother to turn up on the day because "it'll never get up" feel any sense of regret for their inaction?
Westminsters a colonial political construct, the “cartel” want power at the expense of the people, why else would Labour mimic the economically catastrophic Brexit & continue the suffering of folk, families & the stripping of their freedoms.
Just rejoin without a referendum where anyone would vote again for any kind of different reason which is unrelated to the question posed.
it was a plebiscite. referenda ask a specific question, which becomes part of the constitution* if it succeeds. it is not an open ended question that politicians can interpret to their own ends. * the UK doesn't have a constitution. it pretends it does. they're just a body of easily changed law.
Yet someone’s blocked himself in with ‘red lines’. And red lines never worked for May.
The "Neither" option intrigues me...
part of that is going to be "can we all stop obsessing about this and get on with the rest of history?". there are a lot of people out there who'd simply put this debate to bed and get on with the future.
Yes I understand the fatigue, but the question is binary: stay out or rejoin. “Neither” doesn’t really make sense… unless it means “stay out because we’re sick to death of even thinking about this”
Stay out and neither are the same thing to me because both involve doing no more than getting on with life and living with the decision. A dumbarsed decision, but here we are.
Shake it all about
But once we have another referendum, the Labour leader will again go on holidays during the campaign.
What is the source if this data ? I can’t see reference. I want to believe it but for us to successfully get back to Europe we must have reliable information.
You can't beat the demographics.
How can you answer "neither" to a binary question?
We'll get there.. After all, remain won three (out of four) past Referendums.. Good old Ted..!
What on earth do the ~20% neither respondents want? 🤣
Actually 14%.
What is the source of this please?
Not according to LK on BBC; she says the public still want Brexit, coz they voted for it. I bet she never said that before the last referendum.
A large majority in my country are in favour of rejoining the EU, and have been since we were forcibly removed - but with England holding us back we'll just have to wait until we regain independence.
What is the question asked though? Are the polled persons aware that it would be a very different position in the Union compared to pro-Brexit, ie, no opt outs?
I never liked the opt-outs, anyway
Why does there have to be a referendum. We have a Parliamentary system- we vote in MP’s who make all the decisions on are behalf. The referendums were a dereliction of their duties. Any out come they can blame us- which they do. No ref’s on tax, housing NHS, the list goes on -why?
I expect they asked the same inane question as on the referendum ballot - seems fair.
The process for rejoining is already taking place, I wish it was quicker but we have to be realistic it won't happen overnight but I have more confidence now that with the majority wanting it here and after spending a month in France many there expressing a desire for us to rejoin it will happen.
But a majority in the UK don't want to rejoin the EU.
Sadly under McSweeney's leadership nothing much will change. He's determined to regain a few red wall voters even if his Brexit red lines ruins the economy. The inevitable recession will be ruthlessly exploited by Farage on his march to No. 10. Why can't Labour see the risk?
They don't want the votes of Remain/Rejoiners – predominantly ppl with a higher level of education. They want the wilfully ignorant & the thick.
Hard to imagine they can't see the risk, it's so big and obvious. They may have a few blind spots but stupid they are not.
So why don't they do something about it? If they wait much longer it'll be too late.
Exactly Andrew.
