Everyone knows what happened. It was clear at the time. Not sure what the point is now. Too late for justice.
Because the people caught up in Orgreave want it. The miners strikes split communities and destroyed families. Those families need closure.
This won't bring closure it will resurrect division.
I’m not from the area and only know from news/documentaries what when on, but the fact that people who were affected have been campaigning for an enquiry for the last 40 years makes me think the enquiry is the right thing to do.
I do know the area. The trouble it is happening so late that many badly affected, or guilty will be dead by now. Therefore too late for justice.
As a kid who grew up in South Yorkshire, with a Dad who was a coal miner, I saw the brutality of the police force, even in a small community like mine. Thatcher was an evil stain on the U.K.
It will be too little, too late. It will take too long to report and too long to implement and little chance of those guilty (i.e. Thatcher) charged. There will be many who lived through that period and still feel the pain & injustice but for the majority it will "just" be stories. Hope it happens.
It’s a long time coming but just because it was, is no reason to sweep it under the carpet. In a few years time this Labour Party will be investigated for its conduct over the support of Israel.
