They allow private investor groups to buy up single family homes, as it contributes to the problem!
No need to buy a house if you're living in a gulag
The fix (maybe): Set low interest rates for folks who own only 1 home. Say 3.5%-4.5% Set income limits based on zip codes so it helps the most people esp. lower and middle class earners. I know this would have ramifications, but keep income and credit rating high to qualify to avoid risky loans
Harris had a plan but people didn't care. Hatred and egg prices drove this last election. I don't know what will join hatred next time but it will be on the menu again.
She had a plan.
Unfortunately, there's a non insignificant number of voters who will still vote against it because it might also benefit someone they don't like. You could literally run on a "free houses for everyone" platform, and they'd choose to be homeless because a gay couple might also get a free house.
The first candidate that talks about a renewal and push for public housing for renters, a new AmeriCorps that subsidizes either college or housing, alongside first time down payment assistance will break through
Any average age metrics available?
Assuming there is still going to be an election in 2028…….
The black lady had a plan
Her plan wasn’t yt or male enough
It's called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it.
Problem being the only way to do that is depress the value of existing homes which would have its own set of issues. 2008 was not fun, I’d rather not watch the value of my house plummet in half again. It’s a tough problem with no simple solution.
How evs, renters and prospective first time home buyers offer very little numbers to the voting population.
Young voters drive messaging for public support and are the backbone of any national campaign. They do count in numbers for swing states especially
M’eh. Numbers don’t support that they’re the backbone of a national campaign. See 2020 and 2024. They just don’t vote as a large percentage of their eligible voters
When I wanted to buy a home back in the 70's, I lived frugally and did overtime until I could come up with a deposit and buy a modest home. People today don't know how to do that.
your generation stopped building homes once you had them and blocked building new ones. A modest home now is 6 hours from a job or 80 sq fr total
Maybe it depends where you live. I live in a major metropolis and there is always a lot of new building in the city and the nearby suburbs a 20-30 minute ride on a bus or train.
Kamala had a plan - you also need one that cuts through the media nonsense and disinformation economy.
We had a candidate who had a plan. But drag queens and trans athletes won out. 🙄
“American dream” 😅😂🤣 That ship has sailed bro!
And there is this: www.axios.com/2025/05/28/a...
How about $25,000 in down payment assistance?
Wouldn't help much. Just throwing more money at a limited supply, it would immediately raise the price of houses further. There is no easy solution but increasing supply and reducing the cost to build must be addressed somehow.
But it's a huge problem but at least Kamala Harris had it on her radar, which was my point. limited affordable rentals is the main problem. Insane the number of identical apartment complexes all over the country w/ luxury communal space, tiny, upscale apartments & rents in the $2000+ per month range
It is called a “dream” btw & not to worry banks will do their “banky “thing again & sell cds & no down loans …again bundled with sub loans … rinse repeat.
Interest rates were declining under Biden. Not now.
