It’s important to know the specifics of the faith, and what their restrictions actually did. It wasn’t just problematic rhetoric, they were denying people the core part of the faith that was required for the afterlife. It didn’t matter if he didn’t agree, the restrictions meant they were denied

I am very familiar with his history, I didn’t come to this stance trivially. Black people could not enter the temple, and could never be fully Mormon, particularly in the afterlife which is what matters. He was ok with that and that diminishes anything he did or believed about their time on earth
