They are and always have been on the white nationalist side. I doubt that they have the mental capacity to foresee that at the end of the power grab of the regime, the 2nd Amendment will be rescinded by SCOTUS to Make America Safe Again. Or, to ensure that the oligarchy regime is safe.
I know a fairly intelligent, financially comfortable White fit whom I would classify as Libertarian. When I asked him if he thinks MAGAmerica would tolerate a dictator like Trump, he instantly dismissed the idea, asserting that they “would never put up with it”. Guess we’ll see…
So, such an opportunistic libertarian supports him to remove all political opponents in a fascistic way, and then he‘ll stop being a dictator and be nice like real presidents.
I think he realizes what a useful idiot Trump is, but somehow believes that he and Libertarians like him wouldn’t abide by someone who ultimately installs himself as a tyrannical dictator for life. I think people like him mistakenly think they can control the Frankenstein monster they helped create.
