So they serve, I serve, the soldiers serve. Trooping the Colour is from when the colours were paraded in front of the men so they can identify their colours and know what to rally around in a war.
Sorry for my ignorance but the post I was responding to was about the royals not soldiers. My only connection with people fighting for freedom was my grandfather who fought for the international brigade in the Spanish Civil War in the late 1930βs . He was my hero.
The King, served and is the head of the armed forces. Who else should take the parade?
