A lot of Russkies these days try to distort their ancestry by saying they're from the Soviet Union. Ukrainians aren't likely to say that because they're not hiding anything and are proud of their heritage. Ukrainians would say they're from Ukraine. During Trump 1.0 Boris Epshteyn did this too.
